Leavenworth Spring Bird Fest
May 18 - 20, 2007
Leavenworth, Washington
A celebration enjoying birdsong and exploring the natural
world.
In the first year of the Leavenworth Spring Bird Fest,
a field trip of 12 people walked quietly through the
new aspen growth along the slopes of Mount Cashmere
in the 2001 Icicle forest fire. The bird count on this
trip was 32 species. |

The Leavenworth, Washington area features spectacular
habitats, ranging from snow-capped mountains to sunny
Ponderosa pine forests, attracting a wide variety of
birds. See Calliope Hummingbirds, White-headed Woodpeckers,
Harlequin Ducks, Osprey, Western Tanagers and MacGillivray's
Warblers. While birding is the heart of the weekend,
activities will also include geology, wildflowers and
conservation. Professionally guided trips and activities
range from leisurely strolls to active hikes. Fun for
experienced and novice birders of all ages!
The fifth annual Leavenworth Spring Bird Fest on May
18-20, 2007. Throughout the weekend, event and trip
leaders will use every opportunity to raise awareness
that neotropical migratory songbirds birds come here
for a very important, and brief, part of their year
– to breed and fledge. They make the trek from Mexico
and Latin America specifically for the fine habitat
and choice cuisine the Wenatchee Valley offers. By showcasing
our mountains, rivers, and forests -- from Fish Lake
to Blackbird Island to Confluence Park -- Bird Fest
2007 will encourage citizens to value our natural resources
and to protect our region’s habitat.
